Stay Out of the Tomb

John 20:11- “But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb.”

Luke 24:1-5- “Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they and certain other women with them, came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments, then as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead?’”

A tomb is a burial place. It is a place where dead things are put. These women were told to stop looking in the tomb. They were instructed to not look for life inside the tomb. The tomb equals death and decay- the old life. Nothing is in the tomb but decay, rot and old grave clothes.

Jesus was risen from the dead. He was no longer in the tomb. Why would He stay in a place of death and despair? Why would He remain among filth, death and disease? Why do we go back to our tomb? Why do we pick up our old grave clothes and walk around in them like we were never delivered? Why do we put the old man back into existence? We have no business going back to our tomb!

Many reach back into the muck and mire that Christ delivered them from. Some Christians allow a crack, a small opening for the enemy to creep in unawares and cause them to crave those things of the past- immoral things, emotions, lust, illicit sex or desires of the flesh, pride, self-righteousness, and religious spirits. If this allowed long enough it becomes a stronghold (fortress, snare, castle). The enemy knows our weaknesses. He knows what is in our tomb. When we allow cracks and crevices in our spirit, the enemy puts his big foot in the door. Many Christians fall prey to the same sin in which they were delivered. They have allowed a breach in their wall of protection through negligent prayer and communion with Christ. . We need the seal of the Holy Ghost to work in our lives, covering up all those cracks and crevices. When He seals the tomb- satan cannot open it again.

In these days, we need to get FANATICAL with the Lord in our prayer and communion time. We need to start acting like our very life depends on it- because it does- our spiritual as well as our physical life. We must set priorities on our time and cut back on those things that take our time away from Him: TV, computer, hobbies or many other things.  These things may not be bad in themselves, but if they take away our time from the Lord, then they become bad. Even a good thing- if we spend too much time on it- can actually be a bad thing when it robs us our time with God. Back at the time of Katrina- it was said that officials warned people about the hurricane- but very few heeded the warning. Thousands of lives were lost. How many disasters have taken place since then and how many warnings have we had and ignored? Today-- God’s Spirit is warning us to shore up the levies! Get out the sand bags! Repair the breaches in our walls with the anointing seal of the Holy Ghost! We must find that place of safety, refuge, our high tower- which is Jesus Christ. If we can’t hear the loud thunderous voice of God in the current events, how will we ever hear Him in the still small voice?

God is speaking to us today from Revelation 3:20-22: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." God is asking for a relationship with His people. He will not force Himself upon us- it is up to us whether we will open up the door to dine with Him, have fellowship and sweet communion with Him. It is our choice but it is a requirement we must submit to in order for Him to take us through these last wicked and violent days; to keep us clean and pure from the filth of the world and all that satan throws at us. We MUST  have an up-to-date relationship with Jesus Christ. Me must allow the Holy Ghost to seal up all the crevices to our past and give us the strength to walk with the Lord in holiness and purity.
