Blank Tablets

"At that time the Lord said to me, 'Hew for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain and make yourself an ark of wood. And I will write on the tablets, the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you shall put them in the ark.'"
(Deuteronomy  10:1,2)
Moses went up to the mountain of the Lord with blank tablets. As he gave them to the Lord the Lord wrote the commandments on them. We, too, must go to the Lord with blank tablets. In other words, we must empty our lives of our desires, plans and wishes- consider our life a blank tablet- ready to be written on by the Lord. God requires that we offer our lives to Him so that He can write on our hearts what He wills and purposes.
It isn't our job to decide what we will do with our lives. That is God's responsibility.  It isn't wrong to make plans or have desires- but as we delight ourselves in the Lord He will give us the desires of our hearts or change our desires into the desires that He chooses. (Psalm 37:4) It is our responsibility to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice and allow God to do the choosing and deciding. Too many people fear this and rebel or ignore God for they are afraid God will send them to some remote place in the earth having to give up home and family. But this isn't always the case. When we offer ourselves, submit ourselves to the Lord's will- He works all those things out. As we submit to His will His yoke is easy and His burden is light. (Matthew 11:29,30.) When farmers made yokes for their oxen or cattle, it was perfectly fitted to the animal so that it would not rub or chafe. The animal was able to do its work in the yoke without difficulty. And just think- we have THE Carpenter-- making our yokes! He knows what fits us best. He knows what is best for us. The struggle is over whether or not we are going to yield to His will.
If you haven't already, go now to the Lord with empty tablets- void of lists, wishes and desires. Just go to Him empty and allow Him to write His will on our hearts. We must remember that when He does this, He also places His love and ability within us to be able to fulfill those purposes that He has placed on our hearts. He never calls us to something that He does not equip us to do. We never go on our own. He always leads, guides and counsels us. Don't be afraid to give your all to Him. You will never be sorry!
"clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is the heart." (2 Corinthians 3:3)
Dear Lord, as I come to you with blank tablets I submit to Your plans and purposes for my life. I believe that whatever You have called me to do You will also enable and equip me to perform it. I ask that You change my desires into Your desires.
In Christ's Name, Amen.
