No One Left Behind!

Romans 8:35-37: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Those words: “more than conquerors” come from one original word- “hupernikao” (Strong’s #5245) meaning over and above. It has the idea of being super victorious, executing an  extraordinary victory. When we are born again through the blood of Jesus and filled with His Spirit- we are more than conquerors through Christ. We triumph and glory in Christ’s victory (2 Corinthians 2:14). The battle has already been won through Christ. Our triumph and victory is in Him. We are part of His victory and we should leave no one behind. I believe it is the Marines’ motto- to leave no man behind. It should be the Christian’s motto as well.

Sad to say, though, for many the motto of many Christians today is: “God, get us out of here- now!” Many are fearful of the unfolding events in the world today: wars, famine, diseases, increasing crime, “natural” disasters, etc. I put “natural” in quotes because many see it as natural. But looking at the disasters from God’s perspective is different. It may be God allowing so much to take place to wake up the Church- the body of Christ. We should not be so focused on “getting out of here” as we are on taking as many with us when the time comes. If we are truly saved we should have that calm assurance of our eternity. What should disturb us is the fact that there are many right around us who do not. Members of our families, our neighbors and friends, our co-workers. Many are without Christ and without hope. Yes, it is true- many will listen to us. They have their own ideas. But through our prayers and intercessions and living out a godly life before them- they will see the Light of Jesus Christ. We should be more focused on seeing souls saved than saving our own bodies.

1 Peter 2:9 in the Message Bible says: “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out  for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you- from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” We should be more concerned with others eternity than with  what we have or don’t have.

No one left behind- this is our mandate from Christ. We should be in prayer and intercession for those who don’t know Christ. We are to share the gospel with as many as will listen. Pray that others will be drawn to the Lord by His Spirit. Our lives should be filled Christ’s love and compassion for a lost and dying world. No one left behind. Ask God what your part would be in this. He has a purpose for every saved soul. We need to know what that is and not just walk around aimlessly waiting to be taken to heaven- hoping we will miss out on all the tribulation that is going to come upon this earth. If we have His Spirit- we have all that we need to live a victorious life in Christ and in so doing- we are more than able to do our part to leave no one behind.

Remember that people are not our enemy. It is the evil spirit that rules and dominates them that is our enemy. But Christ has given us the equipment that we need in order to be victorious against this enemy---

2 Corinthians 10:4,5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
