Christ in You- the Hope of Glory

Colossians 1:27-"To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

We are continuing on in our study of the abundant life. It is so much more than what most Christians believe. It isn't in the accumulation of things for our own pleasures, but it is living a life that is full and thriving in the good graces of our Lord. Even if God does bestow on us earthly treasures, He only does it so that we can make deposits in the kingdom by giving to others.

In Romans 15:13 Paul made this statement: "Now the God of hope fill  you will all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost."  He was trying to make them understand that since God was a God of hope, He would fill them with that same hope THROUGH the Holy Ghost. In Colossians 1:27 Paul was explaining the mystery that had been hidden for ages- that it was Christ in them that was their hope of glory. This is the mystery of the Church- Christ in us! What a wonderful fact that is. Without Christ dwelling inside of us through the Holy Spirit we have no hope- no hope for this life and certainly no hope for eternity.

How many Christians have you heard say that they have lost their hope? Well, if that is the case, then they have lost Christ. For without Christ there is no hope. With Christ there is hope. Doubtful that Christ left them, for He said He would never leave us or forsake us. Mostly likely what has happened is that situations and circumstances have clouded over their hope in Christ. The devil would like us to think that we have lost our hope- then he can take over our minds with depression, discouragement and cause us to spiral down in the depths of despair- where we think we have lost hope.

Be encouraged today! No matter how bleak your situation looks, if you have Christ dwelling inside of you then you have hope- the God of hope wants to fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that you can abound in hope- whatever the circumstances. God wants us to live above our situations and trials in this life and to thrive and abound in His good graces so that we can first of all give Him the glory and then secondly we can live lives that are an outreach to others. We can then become effective witnesses and vessels to a world full of darkness. We can be those light bearers to those who sit in darkness, bring down the strongholds of satan  and we can advance the kingdom of God.

"And not only that, but we glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
Romans 5:3-5
