Redemption

“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We were talking about Advent- awaiting the coming of a special event or person. During Christmas time, it is inspiring to purposely set aside some time to meditate on and read the scriptures leading up to the birth of Christ. In my previous post, My Christ’s Family Tree, I mentioned that I had started the project from the devotional "The Greatest Gift" by Ann VosKamp. Since then I decided to come up with my own verses and reflections. My Family Tree- began way back in Genesis. Even before that.

But today, I want to focus on Redemption- God’s gift to mankind through Jesus Christ. Redemption means to buy back, pay a ransom, to free from captivity.  And that is exactly what God through Christ did for us.  He sent His Son as a ransom to pay the sin debt and set us free!  Redemption!

Up to chapter 3 in Genesis God had created a perfect world and had created Adam and Eve. But because of their fall,  because they chose to disobey God, sin entered the world and broke that relationship between mankind and God. But in only just a few verses after the fall God promises redemption. In this verse 15 of chapter 3, He says that he was going to put an enmity  between the serpent and the woman between her seed and his seed, and the woman’s seed would bruise the head. Enmity means a mutual hatred, to become enemies. This was a promise of Someone to come,  the promised seed that was going to conquer Satan and bring redemption to mankind.

That seed was Jesus Christ and through Him, I, as a believer, am part of His family!!  All those who put their faith in the finished work of Christ, are adopted, grafted in, to the family of God. Redemption!  He redeemed us from the curse of sin. Redemption!  He set us free to receive His precious gift of salvation through Jesus Christ!! Redemption!!

As you prepare for the festivities of this season, be sure to take some time to wait, be still, take a deep breath and ponder, meditate, think about what it all means to you, today.  Ask God yo give you fresh insight, revelation into what has really taken place through the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ.  Check yourself to make sure you have received this precious gift of salvation.  Then, do what needs to be done rejoicing in His gift to you.

 Redemption!

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, and born of a woman, born under the law,”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
