Standing Your Ground In Resurrection Power!

1 Corinthians 15:58 "With all this going for us, my dear friends, stand your ground. And don't hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time." (The Message Bible)
In the NKJV it says: "... be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
To "stand your ground" today is a legal term which means, in some states, that a person can use deadly force if they feel that their life is at risk, rather than trying to get out of the situation. Taking this into the spiritual realm, we as Christians, need to stand our ground against our enemy- the devil-rather than running away. James 4:7 tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from us- not the other way around.
The words "therefore" and "with all this going for us" refers us back to the rest of chapter 15. The entire chapter is speaking about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the anchor of verse 58. We are well able to stand our ground against Satan because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! We live in resurrection power today! We must keep this in mind as we walk each day in the Lord and face battles left and right. We are victorious because of what Christ did on the cross, and also because of His resurrection. Then it didn't stop there- He passed on that resurrection power spirit to the Church. When the apostles were filled with His Spirit at Pentecost-it was resurrection power! They were enabled with that power and given the authority to use it. It is the same with us today. When we are filled with His Spirit, we receive that same power. Romans 8:11  "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." The Message Bible puts it this way: "It stands to reason, doesn't it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he'll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ's!"
Think of it! Christ's resurrection power lives in and through us today! So having all that, we are well able to withstand all that Satan would throw at us. Be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in the God's work. Don't allow the lies of the enemy to deter you from that. What we do for God is not useless or worthless. It is of great eternal value.
Dear Lord, help us as we continue to seek You and to stand strong in the power of Your might and to overcome the enemy and bring you glory. In Christ's Name, Amen.
