The High Calling of God

"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."  Romans 8:11  I am a few days late in my Easter posts. The weekend was great with family, friends and Church family celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We must keep in mind that He is no longer on that cruel cross, but in fact arose from the grave and ascended to heaven. Then He sent His spirit back to live in each on of us who will believe. (Acts 2). My redeemer lives! In our verse, Roman 8:11, we are promised that the same Spirit which raised Jesus Christ from the dead can live in us- today! It is not just for when we get to heaven. We have that same Spirit- that Resurrection Power Spirit, which, if we receive, will live inside of us, today! Now! That is such exciting news! We do not have to live the way we used to live. "But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people" Psalm 22:6  When Jesus died on the cross, His blood was shed for the remission of our sin. He was the One and Only Supreme Sacrifice. That cross and the ground surrounding it must have had an eerie scarlet, crimson shade. As blood poured out of His body, onto the cross and onto the ground, it was to fulfill prophecy and to secure redemption for broken, sinful humanity- to all who will accept it. Psalm 22 was written by King David about 1,000 years before Christ was crucified, but it is a prophetic detail of what Christ endured on the cross.  The word "worm" is the Hebrew word "tola" . It describes a scarlet or grub worm. When the female of the species would give birth, she attached herself to a tree trunk, permanently, never to leave again. With only a little over a week until we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I have been reading scripture and meditating on that week, way back hundreds of years ago. The things that Jesus went through and the reason behind it. Our finite minds can not grasp the reality of it all. It is too high and too deep. But still we ponder it. Still we give praise for it.
