Rest

I see I haven't been on here since February. Wow! Time flies. I finished up my Physical Therapy for my knees and lower back. Now it is working in the flower beds. Lots of therapy with the creams and roll ons for achy sore muscles. I usually smell like a pharmacy. But I thank the Lord that He renews my strength and my achy muscles recover in about a day. But the big thing I have learned over the last couple years is to pace myself. I am the type of person who, when I start a project I want to finish it in the same day, if not sooner. But I am learning to allow myself the time to rest and reset so I can finish the project. Many Christians are in such a hurry to finish "their project"- their plans for destiny and purpose. But God, having all things in control, knows that there is a timing to the plans in our lives. Just earlier I was reading in Ephesians 2- out of the The Passion Translation- verse 10- "we have become His poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill th...

DON'T BE ANXIOUS-A LESSON FROM OUR DOG

I frequently learn spiritual lessons from our 10 year old Golden Retriever Ginger. Recently my husband and I were getting ready go away for the weekend. Our dog loves to travel and even though she was only going to be dropped off at the kennel- still she DID NOT want to be left behind! The night before we started getting our suitcases ready and all the things we were taking with us. She always becomes so anxious when she sees all this activity going on. On the morning that we were leaving my husband was packing the car and Ginger was just beside herself. Every time I went upstairs to get something she followed me, panting and pacing. Every time my husband went outside she wanted outside with him. Then she wanted back in, just panting as only dogs can do- and pacing and being so anxious. You would think that after 10 years she would have learned that we have never left her alone while we have gone away. But she couldn't keep us out of her sight and she was pacing all over the plac...

The Lord's Yoke

Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." When we think of a yoke, we naturally think of something that is quite cumbersome, hard and difficult to live with. But in the case of the Lord's yoke- it is just the opposite. He said His yoke is easy and His burden light. The word "yoke"- in the original means to join. How can something hard and heavy that binds us to something or Someone else be easy and light? In the days when farmers worked with yoked animals, the animals had to learn to work together. If one got out of step, the load shifted and possibly overturned. The animals HAD to be in step together. And they had to have one leader. One would emerge as the leader. It is the same with a Christian. We have to allow Christ to be the leader. ...
