Proverbs 4:25-26
“Set
your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose.
Looking straight ahead, ignore
life’s distractions. Watch where you’re going! Stick to the path of truth, and
the road will be safe and smooth before you.” (TPT)
“(looking away from all that will
distract us and) focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of
faith…” Hebrews 12a (AMP)
I recently posted about my issues with vertigo and feeling off balance
(Stop-Pause-Reset- 7/26/2025). I came across another scriptural parallel
while doing a couple more tests intending to make me dizzy so they
could determined further issues. After the test, I was instructed to
focus on a little red light- and the dizziness stopped. it would seem
that when I become dizzy, if I can focus on an object (that is not
moving) - the dizziness goes away. It also helps to strengthen the inner
ear canal (which is where the problem is).
How do we stay focused on Jesus when there is so much going on around and inside of us? One of the first things I see is: Matthew 6:33,34-“But
seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall
be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” We need to seek Him first for all of our needs and to not worry or focus on tomorrow, or later in the day, or the next hour. This is hard sometimes, because our minds love to wander, and when that happens, so many scenarios come into focus and we can't see straight. We end up spiritually dizzy. But as we stay focused on Him-His Word-pray, read the Bible- our vision becomes much clearer.
Another important thing to remember is: Proverbs 3:5-6:“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely
on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will
lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you
do, and He will lead you wherever you go.” (TPT). When we put our trust and faith in Christ for our future-whether it is future today or future far off- it is like focusing on that little red light. The dizziness and confusion disappear and we can see clearly again without all the distortion.
We must believe that Jesus has already cleared the path for each one of us. Our lives are not a combination of haphazard, random and separate events. All of our life's moments will lead us on a clear path to Jesus-as long as we stay focused on Him. The cloudiness, the unknown of the future- and the fear that comes with the unknown- will be cleared away. No, we won't know every little detail on our path, but His Word puts light on our path, trusting Him leads and guides us along the pathway and seeking Him continually we will find that all things will be given to us.
Focus on Jesus.
Set your eyes and your heart on Him, through trusting His Word, through prayer,
Becoming intimate with Him,
Staying in His presence,
Seeking Him continually.
Fix your eyes on Jesus
